Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 13, 2026 Last Updated: March 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how FormulaXR ("FormulaXR", "we", "us") collects, uses, and handles information through the XRTracker software development kit (the "Software").

1. Who This Applies To

This policy applies to all users of the XRTracker SDK on the Free, Trial, and Developer license tiers.

Pro License Exemption

Pro license holders are fully exempt. When a valid Pro license is active, the Software does not collect or transmit any usage data. No network requests are made for metrics purposes.

2. What We Collect

The Software collects anonymous usage metrics — aggregate, non-personal technical data about how the Software is used. We do not collect personal information, camera images, tracking data, or any content from your application.

Collected Metrics

Data Purpose Example
Platform and OS Understand which platforms to prioritize "iOS 17.4", "Android 14", "Windows 11"
Device type Optimize performance for common hardware "iPhone 15 Pro", "Samsung Galaxy S24"
Unity version Ensure compatibility "6000.0.25f1"
XRTracker version Track adoption and identify outdated versions "1.0.0"
License tier Understand tier distribution "Free", "Developer"
Active modalities Understand which features are used "Silhouette+Depth", "Edge"
Session duration Gauge typical usage patterns "45 seconds", "12 minutes"
Number of tracked bodies Understand typical workload "2 bodies"
Tracking performance Identify performance issues "6.2ms average frame time"
Error and crash reports Diagnose and fix bugs "NativePluginLoadError on Android 12"

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Camera images or video frames
  • Depth data or point clouds
  • Tracked object poses or trajectories
  • 3D models or mesh data
  • File paths, project names, or source code
  • IP addresses (not logged server-side)
  • Personal information (name, email, location)
  • Any content from your application

3. How We Collect It

Metrics are collected locally during a session and transmitted in a single batch at session end (or periodically for long sessions). Data is sent over HTTPS to FormulaXR's metrics endpoint.

  • Metrics are aggregated and anonymous — individual sessions cannot be traced back to a specific user or device
  • No persistent device identifier is stored or transmitted for metrics purposes (the Machine ID used for Pro license validation is separate and not included in metrics)
  • Metrics collection can fail silently — it does not affect the Software's functionality

4. How We Use It

We use collected metrics to:

  • Improve the Software — identify performance bottlenecks, prioritize platform support, and guide feature development
  • Fix bugs — diagnose crashes and errors across platforms and configurations
  • Understand usage patterns — know which modalities and features are actually used to focus development effort

We do not use metrics for:

  • Advertising or marketing targeting
  • Selling to third parties
  • Identifying individual users
  • License enforcement (license validation is a separate, independent mechanism)

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share collected metrics with third parties, except:

  • Service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting) under strict data processing agreements
  • When required by law — in response to valid legal process

6. Data Retention

Metrics data is retained in aggregate form for up to 24 months from collection. Individual session records (already anonymous) are deleted after 90 days. Aggregate statistics derived from metrics may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, you may have rights regarding your data. Because the metrics we collect are anonymous and cannot be linked to an individual, most data subject rights (access, deletion, portability) do not apply to anonymous data under GDPR Article 11.

If you have concerns about data collection, you can:

  • Upgrade to a Pro license — Pro licenses are fully exempt from metrics collection
  • Contact us — we are happy to answer questions about our data practices

8. Children's Privacy

The Software is a professional development tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the documentation and noted in the changelog. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
